The Lynxmotion SES-V1AL 5D PLTW robotic arm (5 degrees of freedom) component is tailor-made for PLTW schools. AL5D is a fully assembled robotic arm equipped with a mid size wrist rotation upgrade, SSC-32U servo controller board, and USB cable. The SSC-32U motherboard means that a USB serial adapter and 9V battery are no longer needed.
The Lynxmotion AL5D four degree of freedom robotic arm provides fast, accurate, and repeatable movements. Lynxmotion has designed an affordable and durable system based on proven robust design. AL5D is composed of Lynxmotion's servo helicopter components, which have extremely high flexibility and scalability. The arm consists of a black aluminum alloy bracket, aluminum tubes and wheels, customized injection molded parts, and precision laser cut Lexan parts.

The PLTW Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) process includes creating assembly lines and using the Lynxmotion AL5D robotic arm. This software aims to enable students to fully control the robotic arm without having to spend too much time programming, and can easily integrate it into larger manufacturing/assembly systems.
FlowArm PLTW (download) typically has a powerful pattern sequence component that can only be used in the full version of FlowBotics Studio, allowing for the creation of reusable patterns in minutes or hours instead of days or weeks. You can also use sequences to change the playback speed of routines.
