The Lynxmotion Phoenix 3DOF Hexapod Robot Kit (BotBoarduino) has a more natural appearance and more flexible leg and body designs. The three Degrees of Freedom (DOF) leg design means that this robot can walk in any direction. This robot uses 18 Hitec HS-645 servos. This combo kit includes everything needed to build a functional robot (except for the battery). This is very likely the most aesthetically pleasing hexapod robot currently on the market.

Controlling the Robot
The combo kit comes with the BotBoarduino. By offloading servo pulse generation and sequence motion timing to the SSC-32, the BotBoarduino has plenty of capacity to do some really cool things. The Phoenix program allows the robot to walk at variable speeds, in any direction (translation), or turn in place (rotation), or any combination of the two. The leg lift and ride height, as well as the gait walking speed, are all adjustable. You can rotate the body on each axis. There are preset walking patterns and gaits to choose from. All of these can be accessed from the controller. The programming for this robot has already been done. You no longer need to be a computer scientist to play with this level of robotics. Control options include: PS2 remote control, Xbee/DIY RC joystick radio control, and TTL serial control.
